Los Dos Potrillos Plans to Replace Barnes Road On The Border in Colorado Springs

Los Dos Potrillos plans to take over the former On The Border at 5832 Barnes Road in Colorado Springs, giving the restaurant building a named replacement after On The Border closed earlier this year. The Gazette reported September 25 that an advance team had begun infrastructure changes for the conversion. Los Dos Potrillos is not open at the site.

The operator lists an early-2027 target for Colorado Springs on its website. Daniel Ramirez told The Gazette he hoped the Barnes Road restaurant would open no later than March 2027 and described plans to serve the chain’s food and beer there. That is a target, rather than a confirmed first day of service.

For the chain’s Colorado Springs customers, Barnes Road would offer an option closer than its Castle Rock restaurant. Ramirez told The Gazette that Castle Rock is its nearest existing location to the Springs and that customers have traveled north to eat there. If the planned opening goes ahead, diners would be able to visit Los Dos Potrillos in Colorado Springs instead.
